Nonstandard Units: Measuring with a Paper Clip
Sometimes students are asked to estimate or measure the length of an object with something other than a ruler.  Here we use a paperclip for estimating the length.

Using the yellow paper clip as a guide.
I want you to estimate about how many paper clips long the pencil is.
Do you think it is about 2 paper clips long - 10 paper clips long -
or 4 paper clips long?
