Mr. ED Phonemic Awareness
Mr. Ed and friends will teach three skills in this one powerful activity.
This includes letter names - letter sounds (phonics) - and the very important skill of Phonemic Awareness. Phonemic awareness is the ability to identify "where" a sound is heard in a word. For example - Is the sound at the beginning, middle or end of the word? When a student has mastered these three skills, the ability to learn new words will accelerate dramatically!
We are very excited about our Mr. Ed activity because a student can do this without any teacher assistance. As shown in the sample picture below, the student simply clicks the letter sound they hear at the beginning, middle or end of a word. If it is correct, the program jumps to the next letter. If it is incorrect, a video plays explaining the correct letter. When the word is answered correctly, the program jumps to the next word.
